OSA Sol is the first new release from C.A.O. since its merger with General Cigar.  The OSA Sol uses a proprietary wrapper hailing from the Olancho Department of Honduras (“Departments” are similar to “provinces” or “states”.)  The “SA” of OSA stands for “San Agustin.”  This new wrapper is light, refreshing, almost citrus like at times, and adds a wonderful balance to the rich filler blend.  The OSA Lot #50 brings this outstanding wrapper into the limelight more so than the larger sizes and adds more intense flavors and aromas.  If you haven’t tried this fantastic new entry from C.A.O., you should.  You won’t be disappointed.

Carillo Encantos are 4 7/8” x 50, robusto sized and come wrapped in a supple and oily Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf over a combination of Dominican and Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos.  The result is a spicy, sweet, and utterly entertaining smoke that pairs with a Coke or coffee as well as a nice after dinner drink.

 

 

 

 

 

La Gloria Artesanos de Tabaqueros 650 – Translated from the Spanish, “Artesanos de Tabaqueros” means “The Artists of Tobacco Workers,” and in the case of this entry from the La Gloria Cubana camp the name could not be more fitting.  Only 18 torcedors at the cigar factory in the Dominican Republic hand roll these exquisite premium cigars using only the best dark tobaccos available.  The Artesanos de Tabaqueros 650 is an eye-catching, toro sized (6” x 50) cigar featuring a golden Connecticut Shade wrapper on the first third and a dark, colorado maduro, Ecuadorian Sumatra seed leaf.  The result is a cigar that opens with a great earthy mildness and transitions to a spicy, woody medium body in the remaining two thirds.  The Artesanos de Tabaqueros are great cigars almost any time of day or night, and are among the best “special event” or gift cigars out there.  Try one for yourself with this sampler!
