The Short Report with Tony Short – La Finca Fuma Corta

Author: Marty Klausmeier | Filed under: Cigar Reviews, The Short Report with Tony Short

In a few simple words I can tell you everything you need to know about the La Finca Fuma Corta cigars…

Great cigars, great prices!

Now I know you read this about every cigar, with all claiming to be the best, but let’s look at some of the facts.  To begin with, the La Finca line has been in production since 1972 which is a great run for any premium cigar.  The cigars are produced for Cigars by Santa Clara (aka. Lew Rothman of J-R Cigars fame) by Nicaraguan American Tobacco S.A. in the prime cigar region surrounding Esteli.  La Finca cigars are premium, handmade Nicaraguan puros that deliver consistently good marks, receiving scores as high as “91” from Cigar Aficionado magazine.

And, the smoke itself?  Fantastic!  The La Finca Fuma Corta feature dark, coffee brown Nicaraguan wrappers that, while looking a bit rustic, combine with the pig-tailed head and create the visual appeal of these cigars.  Under the cover is a Nicaraguan binder and all Nicaraguan mixed-filler blend.  Taken together, the La Finca Fuma Corta is a medium-bodied smoke with a fair amount of nuttiness and an occasional hint of coffee.  The smoke is slightly spicy through the nose which complements the overall flavors produced.  The Fuma Corta produces a respectable ash for a mixed-filler cigar as well as a solid blast of creamy smooth smoke.

While I tend to smoke my La Finca Fuma Corta when I’m working in the yard or fishing, this is a cigar that you could easily unband and pass onto friends, and in true Mark Twain style, tell them they are cigars that cost three to four times the price you actually paid.  And, with a price of $24.95 per bundle of 25 cigars, you can invite a lot of friends!

So, back to my original thought…

Great cigars?  Yes, they actually are and they age quite nicely.

Great price?  Hell yes!  At just over a dollar a stick (including taxes!) the La Finca Fuma Corta may be the best deal on a bundled cigar there is…  In my opinion, they are the best for the price, bar none.
